3 months on and they're still really cute!

of course!

Here we are geting ready to go out. Sam's on the left and his big, little brother Baxter is on the right. It was taken a while ago and they have grown so much since then...they're now both in the 6kg range.

There's been no knitting, no sewing, in fact no crafting of anything here. I have been lucky to get out some wholesale orders but that's all. Now that there's some routine I'm hoping to start some christmas goodies.

I'm hoping you're all well and have lots of fun. We sure are!

They've arrived, safe and sound

15th August 2006 will forever be the day our lives changed in the most amazing way.

Please say Hi to Sam Alexander (6lb 11oz / 3.03kg) (on the right) born at 1.19pm and Baxter Adem (7lb 11oz / 3.5kg) (on the left) born at 1.20pm. Both boys are perfect in every way! Sure we're taking a wee while to get used to the short sleep cycles but they truely are fab and we're treasuring every wee gurgle, windy smile and funny mannerisms.

It's a true blessing to be parents of twins. Everything is double and that also includes cuddles and kisses. The boys are fraternal, that is not identical, but still have very similar mannerisms. And boy are they capable of "tag-teaming" - one stretches, the other stretches in the exact same way within seconds! And it's amazing that one can be screaming while lying right next to the other who sleeps straight through but they'll both wake within minutes of each other for a feed!

As I'm sure you can imagine, things are a smidgen busy around here so posting will be a wee bit limited for a while. I'm hoping you're all well, hopefully I'll get some time soon to check in with all your blogging-goings-on!

booties galore

I finally managed to finish these the other day...carpal tunnel is a weird thing! My mum picked up a kit that had all the yarns, hand dyed felt, pattern, etc. I ended up changing the colours as they were a little "girly" and we need neutral around here. So I raided my mum's embroidery supplies...wow, there's so many fab things in there! And here we are, 2 wee pairs of cutie booties! I'm going to try some of Heather's Bitty Booties at some stage too. (By the way have you checked out Heather's tutorial on yo-yo's? Even if you're not a yo-yo fan you may still like to check it out - there's pictures of her soon to be released fabric - very yummy!)

The cute ducky flannette is from good old Spotlight and has been made into many sheets and wraps - thanks mum!

What's been taking up all these resting hours recently?
Kate's gorgeous dolls and giraffe, my favourite giraffe, oh and then there's her sheep and green horned sheep. Oh gees, just pop over and check them all out!
And then there's Belinda's spiffy Murray

Oh, and for all the Knitters with Foxtel...did you know that Knitty Gritty is on Saturday mornings a 10am?

advertising

Yeah, of course! You see I think that if you carry them you should at least get to brag about it! :-)

I made this tshirt on Sunday...it's a simple iron on transfer and I'm really happy with the results. And was super easy to make.

I wore it to the shops yesterday and all the comments I got were actually quite lovely. Usually people just stare at my tummy and my wadle but this time I got lots of sympthatic smiles.

On the weekend I finished off the bubs room and I'm really happy, quite proud in fact, with the results. I was after a fun, relaxing room and I feel like I achieved that. We painted on the blue when we first moved in and I painted the clouds after many months of pondering. It's amazing what a "oh, just do it" attitude can achieve!

Yep, there's only 1 cot to start with as they'll both go in together. We've got "A's" baby cot to go in once we've finished the paint job on it. And see all the nappy's on the change table? That's just the ones that don't fit in the top of the wardrobe...and it's a big wardrobe! We decided to go with cloth nappies for the first month to set them on their way and then change over to disposables. And our twin pram...I think it's funky and fun. Well I say that now. Perhaps ask me in a few months what I think of it. We've also picked up the 2 capsules on the weekend and that was a wee bit freaky! Realistic is probably a better word. I must admit that I am starting to get excited. I can't wait to meet these 2 wee people that have been bopping around inside me for a while.

So really it's all set around here. I'm 37.5 weeks and see the Ob/G on Thursday. I know that most Ob/G don't like twin pregnancies to go past the end of the 38th week so I've got some idea about what we'll discuss on thursday.

As I don't have a lot of time left what do you suggest I do with it? Corrie, a cool gal I've only just met through the internet world, suggests taking photos just before I leave for the hospital and at the hospital before it all happens. I'm off to a Gold Class cinema with mum on Thursday to see a girly flim. And of course I need to get the obligatory pedicure. But what else do you think I should do?

a wonderful mail week

We all love mail days don't we? Sure do! Especially when goodies as delectable as these arrive.

First to arrive were the most wonderfully soft baby blankets from the lovely Miss Clair of Xotik Yarns. The blankets are knitted in Aurora 8, a gloriously soft 100% merino wool. One is on Lemon with an Avocado edge and the other is Avocado with a Lemon edge. Perfect for the bubs. These have already been set up in the cot! BIG, super big, thanks Clair. These blankets are going to be well loved, very well loved!

Next is my Tribe-y Gift from Marti from Weebug Knits. A super huge haul! :-) There's 2 fabulous wee bubbie jackets that Marti has knitted. I'm thinking there are from a Debbie New pattern? 2 great facewashers, 3 skeins of the one and only Koigu PPPM in P621- so yummy, sooo yummy! I've never had my hands on this great yarn before but I'm thinking that this is enough for a pair of socks? - 2 balls of beautifully soft navy wool, 2 very cute wee notebooks, some hand cream and a packet of origami paper - which my mum has taken off with already! My family seems to think that these pressies are for them too!

The last parcel to arrive this week was a cute wee "Person of the Month" gift from Sharon. Some cute photo frames that are now set up in the bubs room and a fab feet treat bag of goodies. You are right though Sharon, they'll come in handy when I can actually see my feet again let alone touch them!

Thanks girls! I love all my goodies and I think your generosity is *just* awesome. Stranger who've become friends...all because of a wee tiny thing called the internet. FAB!

Friday was my birthday and I was lucky enough to get some more super pressies. Including a gift voucher from the fab Mr A for a "Spa Treatment" that I'm allowed to cash in after the bubs are here. Super fab! From my family and friends I also scored a gorgeous pair of earrings, a voucher for the fab Japanese bookstore in the city (yep we all know which one that is!), a subscription to Notebook Magazine, a ceramic celtic plaque and a whole bunch of girly smelly stuff! Oh and a subscription to Practicle Parenting Magazine. Do you think that'll come in handy soon? Ahha, yep! How good is August!?! Wonderful!

Oh and in signing off....a tummy shot, of sorts, for Miss Donni. By the way we're up to 129cm waist now! Oh and you may even be able to see the gorgeous (yeah, right!) swollen hands and feet. Noice!

I bought these wee stuffed toys when I was 5 months pregnant as I knew that we'd be having Leo's and I also knew that one of them was going to be "my cheeky little monkey". Yep even at that stage you could see the personalities of each of them. So we have a wee Leo and and wee Monkey...ain't they cute?

Thank you's, moving tummy and no energy at all!

Boy, oh boy it's been so long hasn't it? There's probably no-one left out there to read this post but I'm hoping that if there are, you'll forgive me and my lack of posting. I've been so tired recently that turning on the computer just doesn't seem like the necessitity it was!

Baby news
I've now finished work and am getting the house ready for the 2 wee arrivals. We're 36 weeks now and hoping they'll not want to come out for a couple more weeks but really it's "anytime now"! Gee whiz! I've got almost no energy and a 2 hour shopping trip will see me on the lounge for another 2 hours....don't you just wish you could bank sleep....sure do! But really in the big scheme of things, apart from a lot of fluid retention and carpal tunnel, I've been blessed to have a dream pregnancy. Something I know that not everyone experiences.

A whole bunch of thank you's

I've been extremely tardy in my thank you's to the fab Tribe Gals and big apologies for that. I hope you'll forgive me.

In the first picture you can see a fab pen from Jae that my husband thinks writes amazingly so I've not actually seen it for a wee while...not sure how he explains it to his workmates though! There's also a super cute frdge magnet from Donna that's been working it's butt off on the fridge for ages now! And then a beautiful wee hold-all from Donni...originally meant as a make up case but Donni made a good suggestion to use it as a knitting bits hold all...good thinking! Donni also threw in some great tea sticks...they're so handy.

In the second picture there's a great set of stitch markers from Cece that also came with some yummy sweets that are no longer around. Did you make the stitch markers Cece? They're great.

Then there's an amazing notebook from Cindy that she covered herself. Fantastic! Cindy took the time to troll through my archives to find out more about me and saw this post. And I'm not sure if it comes out in the photo but she's also written some great words to Advance Australia Fair....how clever is that fab chick? Very fab!

So a HUGE thank you to all the fab Tribe Gals for the pressies. I really, really enjoyed my time as POM...how could I not with all this fab goodies arriving all the time?!

what do you think.....

....the first of MANY?

Aha, yep. Absolutely! Maybe I'll run a competition later where you have to quess the number of loads I do in a week. eeeccckkk, I'd imagine that's a scarey number!

My very first "mummy wash" and yes I took the time to put up everything in 2's! Of course! And perhaps the colours, or lack of, may answer stripeytiger's comment from my last post - nope, no idea on the boy/girl count. Just "healthy". That's all we want to know for now.
